Luminata Lantern-Making Workshops!  Starting Aug 30 at the Powerhouse

Come one, come all! Our Luminata lantern workshops are kicking off this Wednesday, and we hope you’ll join in the fun.  We’ll be teaching you how to make both paper mache and painted lanterns. We have all the materials you’ll need, though feel free to bring beautiful papers with you, for decorating. Come make one for yourself, and help make more to sell at the event on Sept. 21st. All proceeds benefit the Fremont Arts Council. It’s easy, fun, and an opportunity to connect with friends old and new.   Click here for workshop calendar.   Click here to volunteer.

Plus: “Float Storage (we found it!) The Fremont Arts Council (FAC) is thrilled to report that we’ve found float storage! We are so grateful to Seattle City Light, council members Lisa Herbold and Mike O’Brien and many others at the City for their leadership in securing this space for years to come. ‘The Fremont Solstice Parade is part of the history and fabric of our community. It’s one of only five City-wide events officially designated by the City of Seattle. We are pleased to help them find a great space to preserve an important part of Seattle’s culture,’ said Seattle City Light General Manager and CEO Larry Weis.” And they add, “Our Commitment to Social Justice and Inclusiveness – During these historic times, we want to affirm our commitment to providing a safe and welcoming atmosphere for creating art and celebrations. We are actively reaching out to expand our community so that we find the strength that comes from being as diverse and inclusive as possible.”
