Judie Clarridge was a long-time member of the Fremont Neighborhood Council and the council Board, serving as Secretary for many years. She was a keeper of Fremont History and a contributor to the book Images of America: Seattle’s Fremont. She is mentioned in the Acknowledgements and FNC gets a small stipend from sales of the book thanks to her (and others) contributions. Valarie Bunn, who is currently managing the Fremont History website and providing new history articles on her own blog, has provided details on sending cards for Judie and her family (see below):
“If you are sending cards, please send one addressed to Clarridge Family, 4211 2nd Ave NW, Seattle, WA 98107-4314. Judie Clarridge’s children and grandchildren are living at the house since Judie had a stroke in 2023 and she now is in an assisted living residence. The purpose of the cards is to comfort the family, for them to open the cards and read the fun memories before passing along the cards to Judie. Use the writing prompt, “I remember,” to write a note, such as, “I remember when Judie & I went to the Lockspot for lunch,” “I remember hauling water with Judie at the Fremont Festival,” “I remember setting up displays with Judie and laughing because stuff kept falling down.”
Judie, a member of Fremont Baptist Church, had many other community involvements and led the Fremont Historical Society for quite a few years. Here’s a photo (left to right) of Audrey, Nelda & Judie setting up a Preservation Month display at the Fremont Branch Library.”
