Friends of the Troll’s Knoll is hosting a brief event this Saturday, November 16th at Noon to dedicate a small cut flower garden for people in need. The event is at the mural by Whitman Ave North and North 38th Street and will be held for about a half hour starting at noon, rain or shine.
This project started as a means of activating the area near the mural. The small flower garden is meant to provide flowers either for condolences, a celebration, or to say you’re sorry. This is something that might be replicated elsewhere if people are interested in fostering and tending a garden, so come along to find out more details!
The garden concept was inspired by and is dedicated to local Fremont artist Dr. Rodman Miller, who created works such as the glass flower railings at the Epicenter building, the Sputnik, and the Rapunzel and Elephant’s Child neon works on the Fremont Bridge. Photos of his work can also be found here, collected by Friends of Troll’s Knoll. Take this opportunity to remember and honor the art and artists of Fremont.
I’d like to see some flowers planted for Judie Clarridge. The Fremont Historical Society is trying to gather some flowers and cards for her to be delivered foythe holiday season.
