Fall is nearly here, and so is yard clean-up. In a recent meeting at Wallingford Community Council with the Seattle City Navigation Team, a number of questions were raised about safety in picking up needles and other trash, even human waste, left in neighborhood yards, parks and streets.  As a result, WCC has taken the lead in organizing trainings for safe removal of these items. Here’s the list of upcoming trainings.

  • Sharps (needles) Pick-up Training. Wednesday, September 26th, 11:15-11:45AM Boys & Girls Club on 45th
  • Sharps (needles) Pick-up Training. Tuesday, October 2nd, 6:00-6:30PM Library, B.F. Day Elementary Childcare provided (gym)

Come learn from the staff at Seattle Public Utilities how to safely pick-up and dispose of used needles, a.k.a. sharps, safely for you, safely for the garbage collector. Alison Steinbacher /SPU will also go over how to safely clean up trash associated with illegal camping, and how to safely clean up human waste. Sponsored by the Wallingford Community Council & the Fremont Neighborhood Council, special thanks to the Boys & Girls Club and to B.F. Day staff & PTSA.
