  • Salute to the Sound
    October 1, 5:30pm
    The Puget Soundkeeper Alliance’ 6th Annual Salute to the Sound dinner and auction should

    be entertaining and educational. This year’s special guest is Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Hedrick Smith. You can buy tickets here or call the PSA office at 206-297-7002. Location: Lake Union Park Great Hall (860 Terry Ave N)

  • The Great Pumpkin Lighting
    October 2, 7:00pm
    Get ready for the 2009 Great Pumpkin Lighting. On October 2nd, kick off the Halloween season during the First Friday Art Walk, gather at the Rocket at 7 p.m. and get ready for the giant pumpkin atop Fremont Studios to be lit at 8 p.m. The event will be emceed by Kirby Lindsay of Fremocentrist.
  • Halloween Costume Fashion Show
    October 4, 3:00pm
    Location: Fremont Studios (155 N. 35th St.)Cost: free, but get $10 off at Halloween Express if you bring a gently used costume to donate to kids and local theatre groups.
  • Party for the Sound
    October 10, 5:30pm
    People for Puget Sound’s Harbor Lights 2009 “Party for the Sound” is an annual dinner and auction that raises money to help stop pollution, create marine protected areas, save tidelands and shorelines, and prevent oil spills. Governor Christine Gregoire will be the featured speaker. Buy tickets here. Location: Fremont Studios (155 N. 35th St.)

    Cost: $100 before September 26, then increases to $125

  • Pumpkin Prowl at Woodland Park Zoo
    October 23, 5:00pm
    Pumpkin Prowl is three days of one-stop shopping for trick-or-treating, pumpkin carving and live entertainment. Tickets go on sale Mon, October 5.(Note: This is an after-hours fundraiser so zoo memberships don’t apply.)

    Location: Woodland Park Zoo

    Cost: $9 adults, $7 children (17 and under), Free for kiddies 2 and under. Discount tickets available at Bartell’s.
